Mrs. Thelma Myrtle Ashley LaComb, 49, Massena Center, was stricken with a heart attack at 8 o'clock last night, August 24, 1964, at her home at Massena Center. The rescue squad was called but she was dead on arrival at Massena Memorial Hospital.
She was employed at the Brakfast Cottage but did not work Monday as she wanted to be home with her daughter, Mrs. Frances Gillespie, who was scheduled to leave Wednesday to join her husband, Lawrence Gillespie, stationed in Japan with the navy.
Mrs. LaComb was born April 25, 1915, a daughter of Charles and Catherine Sharlow Ashley. She attended local schools and married Howard LaComb November 20, 1933. He died in 1959, also at the age of 49.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Catherine) Lawrence, Route 2, Madrid, Mrs. Richard (Jean) Williams, Route 2, Peru; Mrs. Lawrence (Francis) Gillespie, Massena Center, Jane and Nancy LaComb, in school; one son, Wayne LaComb, who is enrolled in Canton ATI; five grandchildren.
Also surviving are six brothers, Bernard, Clarence, Lester, James, William and Leo Ashley, all of Massena; five sisters, Mrs. Francis (Lena) Kearns, Massena, Mrs. Joseph (Sylvia) Premo, Massena, Mrs. Mabel Prescott, Syracuse, Mrs. Edward (Nellie) Lauber and Mrs. Frank (Sadie) Silmser, both of Massena.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's parish and a member of the League of the Sacred Heart.
