Sarah Simser
Funeral services for Sarah M. (Sadie) Simser, 90, of 42 Brighton Ave., Massena, will be held today at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev, Monsignor Floyd J. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were with the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
Mrs. Simser died Sunday (Jan. 20,1985) at 2: 30 a.m. at the home of her daughter in Endicott, where she resided for the winter.
She is survived by a son, Irvin (Bud) Simser of Binghamton; a daughter, Mrs. Perry Doris Travis of Endicott; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Premo and Mrs. Francis Lena Kearns, both from Massena; Mrs. Mabel Prescott of Syracuse; a brother, Grant Ashley of Waddington, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Simser was born Sept. 10, 1894 in Massena. She was the daughter of Charles Ashley and Catherine Sharlow. She married Frank Simser on Sept. 16, 1914 at the Sacred Heart Church. Frank Simser died in June 1981.
Sarah Simser was a licensed practical nurse and had worked at the old Massena Hospital for many years.
She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church.
