Pfc. Brockman Killed In Action With Ground Forces On Leyte Dec. 16
Pfc. Roy C. Brockman was killed in action on Leyte on December 16th, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brockman, of Campbellsville, were notified by the War Department on January 26. He was with the ground forces under MacArthur and had been in the service since Sept. 12, 1941. He served overseas three years, first going to the Hawaiian Islands where he spent 21 months. He went from Hawaii to Australia for some eight months and served in two major battles on New Guinea and landed on the Philippines Oct. 1, 1944. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Doc Bean, Russell Springs; Mrs. Joe Clarence Holt, at home; Hubert Brockman, Campbellsville; Lafe Brockman, at home; and his twin brother, Cpl. Ray Brockman, who is with the armed forces on Oahu Island.
