Edith Rausey Jennings Edwards, 93 of Woodlawn, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Carrington Place of Wytheville. Mrs. Edwards was born in Carroll County on May 1, 1917, to the late John Quincy Jennings and Rausey Alderman Jennings.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Arnold Jennings, Loman Jennings, Marshall Jennings, Archie Jennings, Howard Jennings, and Dillon Jennings; and sisters, Lavonia Montgomery, Mazie Edwards, and Octavia Nichols.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, John Reubin Edwards; children and spouses, Shirley and Wade Chitty, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Wayne and Louise Edwards, of Max Meadows, Alfred and Shirley Edwards, of Blacksburg, Jean and Bob Dion, of Woodlawn, Velma and Dallas Reed, of Wytheville, and Janet and Scott Guy, of Charleston, S.C.; sisters, Isabell Edwards, of Woodlawn, and Lillian Lackey, of Martinsville; 10 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat-grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011, at Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Mike Ingo and the Rev. Don Scott officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday one hour prior to the funeral service. A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family will be gathering at 630 Aspen Drive, Woodlawn, VA 24381 following the graveside service on Saturday.
