Lillian Jennings Lackey, 91, formerly of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015, at the Roman Eagle Memorial Home in Danville, Virginia. She was born in Hillsville, Virginia, on November 23, 1924, to John Quincy Jennings and Rausey Alderman Jennings.Lillian was a homemaker and a charter member of Spring Street Baptist Church where she was very dedicated and held various positions in the church and she was a great Pastors wife, devoted to the Lord, Church and family, giving counseling and praying for friends. She kept a journal for 50 years and wrote her own devotions.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Grady W. Lackey; her son, Roger Lackey and five sisters and four brothers.She is survived by her daughter, Tina Lackey Hamilton (Joe) of Martinsville; her sons, Judge Charles Vincent (Sandy) of Greenville, N.C., Don Lackey (Kathy) of Wilmington, N.C., Pastor Daniel Lackey (Geneva) of Danville, Va., Pastor Stephen Lackey (Susan) of Floyd, Va., and Kemmy Lackey (Wendy) of Cascade, Va.; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Lackey of Lexington, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.Friends and family may call at the home of Joe and Tina Hamilton.The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 29, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Faith Memorial Baptist Church, 7450 Martinsville Hwy., Danville, VA 24541 officiated by the Rev. Joseph Hamilton. Interment will follow in the Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Bassett.
