Mrs. Mazie Jennings Edwards, 86, formerly of Luck Drive died Dec. 5, 2000, at GrayBrier Nursing & Retirement Center.
She was born Nov. 25, 1914, in Carroll County, Va., a daughter of John and Rausey Alderman Jennings. She retired from Anvil Brand. She was a member of Hillside Park Baptist Church in Thomasville and attended Jewel Baptist Church. On Dec. 21, 1932, she was married to Charles E. Edwards, who preceded her in death in 1995. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Trudie Turner, and a grandson, Jonathan Daniel Edwards.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph E. Edwards and his wife, Barbara, of Raleigh and Charles Loman "Chuck" Edwards and his wife, Shirley, of Raleigh; three daughters, Clovie Jarrett of Randleman, Mrs. Harold (Wanda) McCandless of High Point and Mrs. Lyndon (Nellie) Dawkins of 1711 Whitehall St., High Point; a brother, Marshall Jennings of Max Meadows, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. John (Edith) Edwards and Isabell Edwards, both of Hillsville, Va., Octivia Thompson of Durham and Modest Lackey of Bassett, Va.; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Jeff Dawkins and the Rev. John Wheeles. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
