He was born April 19, 1893 at Browning, son of Joseph and Matila E. Sampel Chittum.
He attended school at Browning and spent his lifetime in Chillicothe, Brookfield and Clarence.
On Feb 5, 1921, he married Vivian L. Bingham at Chillicothe. She died April 23 of this year.
He was a veteran of World War I and a retired groceryman and was a member of the United Methodist Church and I.O.O.F. lodge.
Survivors include three sons, Brownie L. Chittum, Chillicothe, Clarence N. Chittum, Sunrise Beach, and Allison D. Chittum, Clarence; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the chapel of the Norman Funeral Home with Dr. Clayton Galatas officiating. The casket will be closed at the start of the service. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
