MRS. W.F. RAPIER TAKEN BY DEATH - PROMINENT OWENSBORO RESIDENT DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS - FUNERAL TUESDAY
Mrs. Chrissa Hart Rapier, 59, widow of the late W.P. Rapier, prominent Owensboro resident, died at the city hospital at 11 p.m., Sunday [June 27, 1937] following an acute illness of three weeks. Mrs. Rapier had lived in Owensboro her entire life. Mrs. Rapier was born August 28, 1878, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Simon Hart. She was married to W.F. Rapier on January 17, 1905. She was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, St. Stephen's Altar Society and the League of the Sacred Heart of St. Stephen's Church. She was also a member of St. Stephen's choir. Surviving are six children: Miss Mary Ellen Rapier, Miss Dorothy Rapier, Mrs. Catherine Rapier Boggess and Mrs. Hugh Boarman all of Owensboro, William J. Rapier, of Dallas, TX and Sylvester Rapier, East St. Louis, IL. Three nephews, sons of her sister, the late Mrs. James Rapier also survive. They are Hart Rapier and Louis Rapier, Owensboro, and Al Rapier, Louisville. The body was removed to the residence, 1531 Frederica Street, from the Owensboro funeral home today. Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen's Church at 9 a.m. Tuesday, requiem high Mass being in charge of the Rev. Albert J. Thompson. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers will be as follows: Active - Paul Frey, Nobel Boarman, Isaac Bressler, F.X. Murphy, Albert Laub, Paul Mischel; Honorary - J.L. Rapier, H.D. Payne Sr., Mayor Fred Weir, S.R. Ewing, R.B. Flaherty and LaVega Clement.
