Joseph "Joe" Emanuel Wells was born on December 25, 1933, in Baytown, Texas, to Josh and Gladys Wells. Joe passed away in Katy on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the age of 78. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Joe was an avid fisherman and golfer, and was a longtime member of the Stephen F. Austin golf course in San Felipe.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Wells of Katy; sons, Joseph Emanuel Wells, II and his wife Susan of Randolph, NJ, and Jeffrey Craig Wells and his wife Mary of Smithville, TX; daughter, Stacy Michelle Asbell and her husband Bill of Katy; grandchildren, Cassidy Wells, Hope O'Donnell, and Will, Alex, and Matt Asbell; as well as 5 beloved cats. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Joseph Wells; his parents; and five siblings.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Thomas officiating. Interment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.

On June 12, 1993 Joe made a hole in one/SFA
