Alexander Sturgeon, 77, died unexpectedly Monday at his home 2804 Third St., after suffering a heart attack. He had been a resident of Sioux City since 1897. Mr. Sturgeon was born May 17, 1872, at Preston, MN. He moved with his parents to a farm near George, IA in 1875. In 1883, the family moved to a farm near Ashton Iowa., and to Osceola County in 1888. He married Leila Porter on Dec 21, 1892, near Bronson, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1897. He was employed by the Cudahy Packing Company until retiring 12 years ago. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors besides the widow are three sons: Ralph of Sioux City, Harold of Sioux City, former superintendent of Public Safety, and Myron of Long Beach, CA; five daughters: Mrs. Blanche Eddleston of Long Beach, CA, and Mrs. Leila Nash, Mrs. Helen Moon, Mrs. Mary Caselton, and Mrs. Dorothy Agee, all of Sioux City; two sisters: Mrs. Anna Smith of Sanborn, IA, and Mrs. Mamie Van Campen of Helena, MT.; 16 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside.
