Lawrence Lee Weets, 39, son of Henry and Katarina Weets, was born July 6, 1926, in Sibley. He died at the Municipal Community Hospital in Worthington, Minn., Wednesday, July 21, at 3:20 p. m. following a month of care and treatment there. He had been in failing health for the past year and a half, and had been hospitalized several times during that time.

Military funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 24, at 2 p. m. at the Methodist Church in Harris with the Rev. S. G. Hawhee officiating and with the Kruger-Wilmarth American Legion Post Number 392 participating.

When a little boy Mr. Weets moved to Avoca, Minn., with his family where he finished his elementary education. He entered the armed services Dec. 11, 1944, from Murray County, Minnesota, and received an honorable discharge from Fort Sheridan, IlI., Nov. 21, 1946.

On Jan. 16, 1951, he was united in marriage to Margaret Anderson at Clarion. They lived in California for six months following their wedding, then went to Harris where they have since resided. To this union four children, two sons and two daughters, were born, Katherine & Julia, 12, Jackie, 8, and Lawrence, Jr. 7.

Mr. Weets was employed by Rickabaugh Construction Company and later by riehms-Stewart Construction Company until illness caused his retirement in March, 1964.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret, and four children, his parents, six brothers, Richard of Avoca, Minn., Henry, Jr. of Bellgrade, Minn., Frank of Sheldon, Raymond of Ocheyedan, Roger and Robert of Kerkhoven, Minn., four sisters, Geraldine (Mrs. Robert Compsoanta) of Half Moon Bay, Calif., Esther (Mrs. Raymond Paplow) of Dundee, Minn., Ramona (Mrs. Harry Pentz) of Orlando, Fla., and Marjorie (Mrs. Edward Anderson) of Org, Minn. He was preceded in death by one brother.

"Beyond the Sunset 'and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" weresung by Mrs. Clarence Hellinga and Mrs. Gilbert Jones at the funeral. Mrs. William Davis was organist. Pallbearers were Legionnaires Glenn Davis, Elmer Schwarting, George Ransom, Dale Bramley, Marvin Rehms and Wayne Saunders. Burial was made in the Union Cemetery at Harris.
