Jack Weets, 55, passed away April 27, 2012, at Wright Medical Center in Clarion, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 1, at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. Resting place was Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

Jack was born on August 5, 1956, in Iowa City, to Margaret and Lawrence Weets. Jack lived in Harris, Webster City, and eventually moved to Eagle Grove. Jack graduated with the Class of 1975 from Eagle Grove High School. Jack began working in the construction business after his graduation. He owned his own business for many years. Jack married Elizabeth Evans of Webster City on June 25, 1983. Jack and Elizabeth (Liz) had three children, Meghan, Jessenda, and Dylhan Weets. They later divorced in 1996. Survivors include daughters, Meghan Weets of Webster City, Jessenda Weets of Eagle Grove, and Dylhan Weets of Webster City; mother, Margaret Stark of Eagle Grove; sisters, Kathy Gatewood (Charles) of Eagle Grove, Judy Langfitt (Leonard) of Goldfield, Gina Weber of Eagle Grove; brother, Larry Weets (Lori) of Goldfield; grandchildren, Matthew McBroom of Webster City, and Jazzlynn Thompson, of Eagle Grove; and several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Weets, and stepfather, Merlyn Stark. The family of Jack Weets would like to thank Pastor Jason Cooper for conducting the services and the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women for providing the luncheon, Wright County Medical Center and Hospice for the care provided, and sincere thanks to family and friends during our time of bereavement. Meghan, Jessenda, Dylhan Weets, Margaret Stark, Kathy Gatewood, Judy Langfitt, Gina Weber, and Larry Weets.

EAGLE GROVE - Jack L. Weets, 55, of Eagle Grove, died Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. Jason D. Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
