MRS. E.L. Pemberton, Wife of Pastor, Dies

Came to Minnesota in 1875 to Become Teacher in Minneapolis Schools

Mrs. Elvira L. Peberton, 81 years old, a resident of Minnesota for more than 50 years, and wife of the Rev. John Pemberton, died Sunday at the family home, 1642 Blair street, St. Paul.
Mrs. Pemberton was born in Maine and moved to Minnesota in 1875 to teach in the Minneapolis public schools. She was married in 1879 to Mr. Pemberton, then a student at the University of Minnesota, and the pastor of a small Methodist Episcopal church on Franklin avenue, Minneapolis.
Mrs. Pemberton shared with her husband the duties of many pastoral charges in Minnesota, incuding Minneapolis, St Paul, Stillwater and Lake City.
Mrs. Pemberton is survived by her husband and three sons, John L. and Joseph G. Pemberton, instructors in Minneapolis schools, and Lee R. Pemberton, superintendent of schools at Blue Earth, Minn. Funeral services will take place Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Midway Masonic temple, Capital and Snelling avenues, St. Paul.
