Rev. Chessman Benner Lenfest, 89, of
4918 Adams, died at his home Tuesday
morning. He was a retired Methodist
minister, leaving his work in 1918.
He had lived in Lincoln 30 years, and
his children attended school at
University Place.

Rev. Mr. Lenfest came to the state in
1882 and homesteaded at Edgar where he
was married and joined the Nebraska
conference of the Methodist church.
He served pastorates at Superior,
Guide Rock, Chester, Fairmont,
Dorchester, Shelby and Ulysses. In
1907 he took a supernumerary position
with the church and then became active
again in 1911.

He is survived by a daughter, Grace
at home; sister, Lucy of Berkeley,
Calif.; brother Lee R. of San Jose,
Calif.; stepbrother Oliver Gowan,
Ong, and two grandchildren.

The body will lie in state Thursday
morning at Castle, Roper & Matthews
and funeral services will be held at
2:30 p.m. Thursday at First Methodist
church. Rev. H. O. Martin and Rev.
W. L. Ruyle in charge. Burial in
Lincoln Memorial Park.
