Ethel Augusta Hedrick , 95, a resident of Junior and a former resident of the Poe Run Community, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at the Boraddus Hospital in Phillipi.

She was born Aug. 13, 1907, at Elkhurst, Clay County, a daughter of the late William Addison and Isabelle Rhodes Davis. On Sept. 13, 1922, she married Jacob Earl Thomas, who preceded her in death. On June 14, 1956, she married Gilbert Hedrick, who also preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Howard, Luther, Meade, Lloyd and Carl Davis; three sisters, Alma Davis Hart, Alice Davis Boggs, and Nina Davis.

Mrs. Hedrick was a former member of the Clay County 4H, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of H.W. Daniels Post No. 29 American Legion of Elkins. She was a Methodist by faith.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay with Minister Donald Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at the Will Davis Cemetery on Beechy Ridge.



Ethel Augusta Hedrick, 95, a resident of Junior, and a former resident of the Poe Run community, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 10, 2002, at Broaddus Hospital in Philippi.

She was born Aug. 13, 1907, at Elkhurst, Clay County, a daughter of the late William Addison and Isabelle Rhodes Davis.

On Sept. 13, 1922, she married Jacob Earl Thomas, who preceded her in death.

On June 14, 1956, she married Gilbert Hedrick, who also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Ralph B. Thomas of Junior; two brothers, Burton and Paul Davis, both of St. Albans; three grandsons, Mike Thomas of Bryceville, Fla., Mark Thomas of Atlanta, Ga., and Danny Thomas of Junior; three granddaughters, Shirley Hughes of Troy, Ohio, Cheryl Thomas, address unknown, and Sherrie Curtis of Elkins; and several great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were five brothers, Howard, Luther, Meade, Lloyd and Carl Davis; and three sisters, Alma Davis Hart, Alice Davis Boggs and Nina Davis.

Mrs. Hedrick was a former member of the Clay County 4-H, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion, of Elkins. She was a Methodist by faith.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins.
