Paul Rhodes Davis, 85, of St. Albans passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army having served in the Pacific Theater, specifically Guadalcanal and Bougainville Island.
Paul, also known as Redeye, retired from the Union Carbide South Charleston Plant in 1984 after 36 years of service.
He was born Sept. 1, 1922, and was the youngest of 11 children born to William and Isabel Rhodes Davis of Beechy Ridge, Clay County. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alma Hart, Ethel Thomas, Alice Davis, Nina Davis; and brothers, Carl, Meade, Luther, Lloyd, and Howard.
Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Katherine Pierson Davis; son, Chris and his wife, Anna; daughter, Renee and her husband, Jay Kirby; daughter, Robin and her husband, Will Reynolds; son, Craig; and brother, Burton and his wife, Florence, all of St. Albans. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Danny Kirby and his wife, Misty, Carissa and Corey Davis, Jeremy, Brandon, Casey, and Lindsey Davis, and Elizabeth Jarrett; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Chelsea, Andrew and Jayden Kirby.
He was a good man and a loving father.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Avenue, St. Albans, with Elder Jay Roncaglione officiating. Burial will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post # 73, American Veterans 20 and V.F.W. #6418, St. Albans.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
