Andrew J. Whetzel Aged 65, a resident of Palmer Heights and former resident of Brownsville, died Thursday morning June 19, 1952 at 10:45 in the Uniontown Hospital.
He was the son of the late Stephen and Mary Reusch Whetsel and was born March 10, 1887, surviving are his wife Mrs. Blanche Whetzel, and the following children, Averill, Filbert Heights; Kenneth at Home, Mrs. Ellie (Mildred) Davis of Adah; Ralph of Adah; Donald of East Millsboro; Mrs James (Thelma) Taylor of Masontown; Mrs Raymond (Ruth) Wheeler of Brownsville, R.D.1 ; Leroy of Adah and Mrs. Michael (Luella) Berish of Uniontown, R.D.1 ; also 24 grandchildren and three brothers. Elvin of Hiller. Louis of Brownsville R.D. 1; George of Hollywood, Calif. Preceding Mr. Whetzel in death was an infant son Edward, in 1910 and a brother John in 1944.
Mr. Whetzel was a member of U.M.W.A. Palmer Local 6548; Fraternal Order of Eagles of Uniontown; The Adah Gun Club; honorary member of Adah Vol. Fire Dept., Fayette County firemen's Association; Frick Veterans's Association.
Friends will be received in the Kisinger Funeral home, Brownsville, after 7 0'clock this evening. The remains will lie in state in the Palmer community Church, Sunday, June 22 from 2pm until 3pm when services will be conducted by Rev. David Hunter. Burial will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery, Brownsville. (WMBS please broadcast).

and Alice M. (Allie) Secrest. Alice was the daughter of Jacob Secrest/Sechrest and Lavina Buttermore of Brownsville, Fayette, PA.

My Father Raymond Whetzel remembers that Andy had a Hump on his back due to an injury in the mine when slate fell on his back, and at the Gun Cabin he remembers his first cup of coffee with his grandfather brewed over the campfire.
