1988 Hosted by over 600 people, wife and family (80th. Birthday Party), New Salem, PA
1991, Partially paralyzed by stroke. Last Dance was with Granddaughter Rae Lynn Whetzel-Bessant
on her wedding day April 27, 1991.
1999, Traveled to Newton Falls, Ohio to Son Kenneth Edward Whetzel's Funeral. Kenneth's Life was celebrated by the community of Newton Falls, Ohio and his Family.
Sept. 8, 2000 Grandpa passed away in Uniontown Hospital. His Family and Friends gathered at Robert T. Kish Funeral Home INC., Legion Street Republic, PA., A Funeral mass was held at Holy Rosary Church, Republic. Some Grandchildren and Great Grand Children placed pictures of Love and favorite articles to remember Grandpa as they passed. It was not planned they just did it individually on their own. In Fall of 2000 after Averill's death a Stone was made and purchased by Family for Flo, Averill and Peggy who are all buried next to each other in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown, Fayette County, PA.

Averill A. Whetzel, 92, of Filbert Heights, PA., passed away Friday, September 8, 2000, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born August 10, 1908, in Brownsville, Pa., a son of Andrew Whetzel and Blanche Whetsel Whetzel. Averill was retired from United States Steel Corporation's Karen Mine and had owned and operated the Republic Laundromat for 11 years. He was a member of the Newborn Indians, Fairbank Rod & Gun Club, Hutchinson Sportsman's Club, Uniontown Eagles, and Palmer Sportsmen. His parents and a son, Kenneth, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Viola Valente Whetzel; sons: Averill "Pete" Whetzel Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Warren, Ohio, Robert Whetzel and his wife, Carole, of Wilmington, Delaware, Raymond Whetzel and his wife, Sharon of Cortland, Ohio, Eugene Whetzel and wife, Gayle, of Columbus, Ohio, Richard Whetzel and his fiancee, Tami Parr, of Merrittstown, Pa., and William Whetzel and his wife Carole, of Allison, Pa.; step sons: Robert Valente and his wife, Marlene, of tower Hill One, Pa., and Harry Snowden and his wife, Sharon, of Uniontown, PA; daughters: Dorothy Schnitzhofer of Republic, Pa., and Flo Nyswaner and her husband, Bill of Carmichaels, Pa.; stepdaughters: Paulette Yucha and her husband Eddie of New Salem, PA., and Roberta Witteman and her husband Eugene, of Uniontown, Pa.;sisters: Thelma Taylor of New Hampshire and Luella Leonard of Uniontown, Pa.; a brother, Leroy Whetzel and his wife Pearl, of Perryopolis, Pa.; 40 grandchildren including Jessica Bates and her husband, Chad, and Jennifer Halfhill and her husband, James, all of Connellsville, Pa., and Donna Krull and her husband, Eric of Republic, Pa.; 20 great-grandchildren; a daughter in law, Judy Whetzel Defrank of Newboro, Pa.; and several Aunts, Nieces and Nephews. Friends will be received in the Robert T. Kish Funeral home INC., Legion Street, Republic, Pa, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm and Monday, September 11, until 10:30am when Prayer Service will be held. A Funeral Mass follows at 11 am in Holy rosary Church, Republic, with Rev. Fr. Stephen R. Bugay as Celebrant.

My GrandMother Flo Mariah Davis and second wife Aretha(Peg) Lake Hosaflook-Davis preceeded him in death. Both are buried with him in Church Hill Cemetery McClellandtown.
