Anne was born at home in Micanopy. She graduated fron the Micanopy High School in 1934 and attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee. There
she was a member of Sigma Theta Phi sorority. She transferred to Tampa University and there met Sumner Painter. They eloped and were married in Clearwater, Pinallas County, Florida on February 17 1936, then lived in Tampa. After Sumners death in 1941, she attend a business school and was a secretary for the Tampa Postmaster. She volunteered in the USO and taught Bridge to the service men during WW II. She met and married Ray Hull in 1946, but was soon divorced. She met James Bruce Pruitt and they married in Brunswick, Georgia on 9 October 1948. Anne and Jimmy lived in both Marion and Alachua Counties at times.
Anne worked for the Florida Home Extension Services in Gainesville as well as being a busy wife and mother to three children. She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Gainesvuille.
Anne was very intelligent & imaginative. She wrote stories while in college, liked crafts, crocheting, sewing, cooking and playing the piano. One of her specialities was making cane syrup pull candy!
