Alice (my paternal great-grandmother) was a daughter of Dollarson Sweat Love and Sarah Jane Cole Love.

Her maternal grandparents were Watson Cole and Louisiana Murphy Cole.

On February 3, 1885 she married Lafayette Alcorn in Iron Co., MO. They had 7 children: Lola (Alcorn) Buntin, Roy Anvil, Clyde S., Scott Lee, Ora, Charles Loven & Myrtle (they both died as infants before the family moved to Ellsinore, Carter Co., MO in 1906).

Alice's obituary was published in the 9-10-1942 edition of The Current Local, Van Buren, Carter Co., MO on page 1 (used with permission).

"Mrs. Alice Alcorn, age 79, died at the home of her son, Roy, in Fredericktown, Saturday, September 5, 1942 following a long illness due to the infirmities of age. She is survived by her aged husband, L. Alcorn, two sons, Roy of Fredericktown and Scott of Ellsinore, one daughter, Mrs.Lola Buntin of Grandin and one sister, Mrs. Effie Andrews of Centralia. IL.

All were present at the funeral which was held at the Methodist Church in Ellsinore Sunday afternoon. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. C. E. Love, assisted by Rev. H. C. Whitcanack, and interment took place at the Henson Cemetery.

Mrs. Alcorn had been a member of the Methodist Church for many years. The Alcorns have lived at Ellsinore since 1906, and have many friends here."--Ellsinore correspondent
