Obituary in The Times and Democrat, Orangeburg, SC, 31 Dec 1968: North - Mrs. Jinnie Mae Spires, 31, wife of Boyce T. Spires of Lake City and North, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday at the Orangeburg Regional Hospital after an illness of two weeks. She was born in Orangeburg County, the daughter of the late Pet and Nealy Johnson Harley. A former resident of North, she had lived in Lake City for the last three years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of that city. Besides her husband, survivors include two young daughters, Wilhelmina and Mabel Spires; one son, Calvin Gene Spires; seven sisters, Mrs. Vessie Spires of Wagener, Mrs. Luther Hutto, Mrs. Vivian Young, Mrs. W.S. Gartman and Mrs. Julia Baughman, all of Neeses; Mrs. R.W. Vasser of Vernilion, Ohio and Mrs. Marion Spires of North. Also, one brother, Jesse Harley of Neeses. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, Culler Funeral Home will be in charge of the services.
