Henderson Winans was born in Miami, Ohio, December 12, 1835 to James Winans and Elizabeth (Gearhart). Henderson married Lavina E. (Woodworth) and had 6 children.

In 1880, the family was living in Plover, Portage, Wisconsin, with children Allie 17, Nellie 13, and Frankie 6.

The Henderson Winans family came to Beadle County, South Dakota from Wisconsin in 1883 and to Hyde County in 1884.

Their son, A. D. (Alphonso Dianthony) had come to Hyde County in 1883.

In 1900, Henderson was living in Eagle Twp., Hyde Co., SD.
In 1910, he and Lavina were residing in Highmore.
In 1915, he was still in Highmore, census card said married, but no 1915 card for Lavina. ???
In 1920, he was widowed and included in the household of Arza P. Janes in Fall River Co., SD. Over 80 people on the list- must be Soldiers Home in Hot Springs!

Henderson died January 16, 1924 in Hot Springs, South Dakota, and was buried Highmore.
