John W. Thompson – born: Feb 17, 1825 – died: Oct 27, 1865

October 4, 1838 William Thompson entered 160 acres and James Thompson entered 40 acres about a mile or little more northwest of what was later John G. Winans farm. There are grave markers for the wives of these two men and also for William, in the Wilson Cemetery.

An old account book belonged to John G. Winans. 1st entry is dated January 1, 1874 and as late as January 29, 1880. On one page is a part of an agreement where Phebe Tylor and John W. Thompson and Mary M. Winans rent to John G. Winans the John Thompson 160 acre farm for a period of three years, dated September 25, 187? Rent $200 per year and keep fence repaired.

He had an interest in a butcher shop or perhaps two, one in Vermilion and one in Paris.
