Died on the 21st day of March, 1894, Mrs. Mina R. Reid, wife of James S. Reid, Jr., age 25 years and 6 months.
Early in 1891, she contracted a severe cough, which, aggravated by several attacks of lagrippe, soon terminated in consumption.
Perceiving that an early dissolution was certain, she was removed by friends from her home near Buckhead, Morgan county, to the old homestead of her father, Mr. Seaborn I. Walker, to die. An affectionate sister and a trio of loving anxious brothers aided the husband in watching over and caring for her. Everything that such love could suggest for her comfort was tenderly and cheerfully given.
After the lapse of a few months, death claimed its victim, and a mourning husband and three motherless children are desolate.
Minna was an affectionate and loving wife, mother, sister and friend. About three years ago, she made a public profession of faith in Christ, and in that relation was steadfast, true and faithful as in all others. During her illness, she was an uncomplaining patient, and submissive to the Father's will, as she was grateful to her ministering relatives and friends. She recognized in her life that "in the hands of her Lord were the issues of death."
Five faithful, loving brothers and a cousin, as pallbearers, placed her body in a grave beside those of her father, mother and brother. A peaceful rest.
May a merciful God deal tenderly with with the bereaved father and children.
