William E. Kugler was the 9th child, and 6th son, born to Karl and Pauline (Klenk) Kugler on February 3, 1902. He was born at home in Maple River, (Emmet County) Michigan.
Willie, as he was called, left the farm and moved to Pontiac, (Oakland County) Michigan. He lived with his brother, Albert and Leona Kugler, at 152 S Park Street. Just 10 days after his 18th birthday, Willie died from pneumonia, possibly from complications of influenza, which was an epidemic that swept the country at that time. Willie died on February 13, 1920, in Pontiac. He is buried in the Maple River Township Cemetery, in Brutus, Michigan, along with other family members.
