Frederick John Kugler was the 2nd child and 1st son born to Pauline (Klenk) and Karl Kugler. He was born on August 20, 1888 in Brutus, Maple River Twp, (Emmet County), Michigan.

Fred left the farm and went to Toledo, Ohio. He had a friend there who helped him get a job with the New York Central Railroad.

Fred married Maybelle H Yeslin on Aug 5, 1914. They had two children, Margaret and Donald. After they divorced the second time, Fred married Ruby Quinn Feb 27, 1929, who was born in Alabama in 1907. They had two children, Wilma (Billie) and Freddie.

Fred was a very kind man and well liked by everyone. He was member of the Masons. He loved gardening and had a vegetable garden for many years. After retiring from the railroad, he increased his vegetable garden and sold his produce at a little vegetable stand that he had in his yard. Fred was 91 years old when he died on December 8, 1979, and is buried in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, (Lucas County) Ohio.
