Mrs. Rider was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Rumbarger, and was born at Gatesburg on October 31, 1830. On January 13, 1852 she was united in marriage by Rev. D. C. Moser, at Pine Grove Mills to Jacob K. Rider. Mr. Rider was killed twenty-five years ago at Gatesburg, when struck by lightning during a severe electrical storm. Since that time Mrs. Rider resided with her daughter, Mrs. Ellenberger at Tyrone. Mrs. Rider was the second youngest of fifteen children.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Ellenberger of Tyrone and one grandson, Dr. J. W. Earl Ellenberger of Wilkinsburg. Her other children preceded her in death.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Rider was actively identified with the Lutheran church, having joined that denomination when but seventeen years of age.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, the cortege leaving the Ellenberger home for Gatesburg where services will be conducted by Rev. Edward M. Morgan, pastor of the First English Lutheran church. Burial will be made in Gatesburg cemetery.
