"Jacob Rumbarger bought a wooded tract of land at Gatesburg, PA, granted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to Frederick Wolfvasberger, by patent under the great Seal of the State, dated 9th June, 1804. Said Frederick Wolfvasberger, & his wife Margaret, who owned by their deed, dated 6th Dec 1806, conveyed same to Henry Getz & wife Mary, who by their deed, bearing the date 11 Nov 1816, conveyed the same to Jacob Rumbarger."**

Jacob and children cleared some of the land and built a Log House by 1824. It was still standing and in good condition in 1965 beside the Gatesburg Cemetery where he and eight of his children are buried.
He had fifteen children, twelve reached maturity. Jacob willed the farm to his son,John L. Rumbarger, at the death of his wife, Elizabeth Funk Rumbarger. John L. willed that "It be sold and all monies from such sale be invested to go to the support of my wife, Maria M. Rumbarger."
∼Jacob Cray Rumbarger1,2,3 (alias "Jacob Rambarger") was born January 29, 1784 in Lancaster, Ephrata, PA ( or January 29, 1784 ) and died May 4, 1852 in Gatesburg, Centre, PA5. He married Elizabeth Funk in 1806 . She was born April 18, 1789 in Warrors Mark, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, United States and died November 20, 1884 in Gatesburg, Centre, PA, daughter of Martin Funk and Barbara
Catherine Etnier.
