Thomas Willis Mars, son of John A. Mars and the former Miss Martha Eleanor Willis, was born in 24th of October 1856. Known as Willis by his family, he was the youngest child of thirteen children.

Willis Mars departed this life on the 24th of January 1934 at the age of 77. He was buried along side his sisters, brothers and parents in the Mars family cemetery.
