Walter Warren Mars, the youngest son of John A. Mars, Sr. and the former Miss Martha W. Willis, was born the 29th of September 1854 in what would be later McCormick County, South Carolina.

In 1881, Walter was married to Miss Lucy Jane Moore, with whom he had five children.

Walter Warren Mars, Sr. departed this life on November 8th 1924 at the age of 70 years old. He was buried near his parents in the Mars Family cemetery.
