Word has been received of the death of Richard E. Booth, Sr., 83, of Canal Fulton, who died Thursday (Oct. 7, 2004).
He was born in Guernsey County, son of the late Frank and Mary Booth. Mr. Booth was a member of Moose Lodge 460 and an active member of First Baptist Church, Massillon. He was a U. S. Army veteran, having served in World War II in the Phillipines. He was an employee of Republic Steel for 42 years, having served as a welder. He enjoyed woodworking, vacationing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; and nine brothers and sisters. He leaves a son, Richard E. (Linda) Booth, Jr. of Bowerstown; a daughter, Deborah J. (John) Plasky of Jackson Township; two sisters, Marjorie J. (Gerald) Vetter of Alma, Wash., and Jane (Bill) Reasoner of Jackson Township; four grandchildren, Wendy, Ginger, Leslee and Matthew; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours and services were held at Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon. The Rev. Kenneth Killian officiated the ceremony. Burial took place in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
