Helen married Charles R. Shear, Sr. in Jonesboro, Indiana on June 17, 1933; he died June 25, 1975. She was a 1930 graduate of Lagro High School and a homemaker. She was a member of the Lagro United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer 21 years, and taught Bible School. Helen was also a member of the Hopewell Memorial Association. She lived in the Jonesboro area from 1948-1954.
She is survived by five children, Charles R. "Chuck" (Sheryl) Shear, Jr., Marion, Jerry Shear, West Lafayette, Norma Lovejoy, Fort Wayne, Larry (Sharon) Shear, Urbana, and Ed (Becky) Shear, Wabash; two sisters, Ethel Hoch, Wabash, and Irene Campbell, Summitville; two brothers, Earl (Ada Mae) Campbell, Findlay, Ohio, and Dan Campbell, Upland; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Rochford; three sisters; three brothers; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Lagro United Methodist Church, 1100 Main Street, Lagro on with the Rev. Rick Borgman officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Lagro.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash, and one hour prior to service Saturday in the church.
