WARREN — Sarah "Sally" Slater, 88, died Feb. 15, 2008, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. She had resided at Heritage Pointe in Warren since April 17, 2006.
She was born June 18, 1919, in Wabash County, Ind., the daughter of Albert and Clara (Whitcraft) Campbell.
Mrs. Slater was a 1937 graduate of Lagro Schools of Indiana, and attended Indiana Business College in Marion.
She worked as an accountant for I. Duffy and Son livestock buyers in Fairmount and in several other office positions, and then she moved on to Citizens Telephone in Fairmount; retiring after 10 years, to become a full-time homemaker.
She was a member of Fowlerton Homemakers Club; Methodist Women's Group; Fairmount Department Club and Women's Christian Temperance Union.
Survivors include sons, Frederick Alan (wife, Carol) Slater of Mountain View, Ark., and John William (wife, Sheryl) Slater of Kalispell, Mont.; brothers, Albert (wife, Pat) Campbell Jr. of Fort Collins, Colo., Dan (wife, Darlene) Campbell of Fairmount, E. Harper Campbell of Hartford City, Earl (wife, Ada) Campbell of Findlay, Ohio, and Lloyd Campbell of Jonesboro; sisters, Irene Campbell of Summitville, Ethel Hoch of Wabash, Helen Shear of Lagro; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Slater was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Slater; parents, Albert and Clara (Whitcraft) Campbell; and two sisters, Myrtle Adkinson and Doris Jean Campbell.
Services 11 a.m. Tuesday at Epworth United Methodist Church, Matthews, Ind., officiated by the Rev. Jan Bunch. Burial will take place at Matthews Cemetery.Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be mad, through the funeral home, to Epworth United Methodist Church.
