Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2008 at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 12 noon until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Green Mound Cemetery, Keithsburg, IL. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
Willard was born on October 30, 1915 in Aledo, IL, the son of Edward and Fannie E. (McCaw) Cook. He married Winifred E. Brown on September 14, 1935 in Keithsburg.
In early years, Willard worked as a farm hand and worked at a brickyard near his home town. He later worked for Case and John Deere. He was a member of Memorial Christian Church, and was a retired elder and had been part of the men's fellowship group there. He had been active in Scouting and Explorers, and was once a member of the Knights of Pythias. He enjoyed playing cards and board games, and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Winifred, East Moline; daughter, Marjorie (Van) Lincoln, Jordan, MN; sons, Donald E. (Wendy) Cook, Lynnhaven, FL, Davis C. (Carol) Cook, Monmouth, IL, and Neil A. (Judy) Cook, Spencer, IA; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
His parents, a daughter Marian Juanita, and 14 brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
