Obituary: MRS. KNAPP PASSED AWAY ON WEDNESDAY - Death came yesterday [27 May 1937] to well known woman in Moab, Utah, hospital - Mrs. William Knapp residing two miles north of this city [Grand Junction] on the Seventh street road and a resident of Mesa county or vicinity since 1916, passed away Thursday morning in a Moab, Utah, hospital, where she had been a patient receiving treatment for an ailment which dated back for a number of months. The body was brought to this city late in the day. Sarah Belle Earp was born in Wheeler county, Neb., June 3, 1894, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Earp. She came to Mesa county about 1916. The mother passed away 10 years ago, the father continuing his residence in this city. The deceased was married to William Knapp 11 years ago, and for a period of several years made their home on a ranch several miles up Roan creek from DeBeque. A number of years ago they returned to Mesa county, residing since just north from this city on Seventh street where Mr. Knapp is engaged in ranching. Mrs. Knapp is survived by her husband; three children by a former marriage, Mrs. Fred Likes of Mack district, Donald and Vauna Knapp, who resides at home; the father, J.R. Earp of Pitkin street, this city; a sister, Mrs. Vernon Snavely of the Hunter district, and a brother, E.V. Earp of the Uintah force at Mack. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from Martha's chapel, with Daniel Johnson of the Watch Tower Bible Students association in charge. She will be buried in the Elmwood cemetery by the side of her mother [The Daily Sentinel, Grand Junction, Colorado, May 28, 1937, p. 5].
