Services for Peggy Mathis will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Russell Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Taylor officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mathis, 68, of Russell, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in Henderson, Nevada. She was born in Russell and was a graduate of Vimville High School. She was a member of Russell Baptist Church. Peggy moved to Henderson, Nevada in 1977 and later returned to Lauderdale County. After the death of her husband and due to health reasons, she moved back to Henderson to live with her daughter. Her biggest enjoyment was time with her family and playing cards and dominos with all her sisters.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Touchton and husband Randy, and Bo Widener, all of Meridian; Linda Roybal and husband Ernie of Henderson, Nev., Samantha Fox and husband Lance of Long Island, New York, Tammy Mathis of Henderson, Nev., Thelma Mathis and husband Antonio of Henderson , Nev., and Tiffany Lopez and husband Hector of Trenton, New Jersey; 20 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Opal Hurt of Flowood, Ann Whitehead, Patsy Barnhurst (her twin), Marilyn Hamby, and Carolyn Boykin and husband Donny, all of Meridian; Brother, Leo Harper and wife Dena of Meridian; former son-in-laws, Mack Herrington and Maurice DeVeau; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mathis; her parents, Alonzo and Beulah Harper; sisters, Mardell Harper, Margie Moak, and Juanita Clarke McGrath; and brothers, Harold, Mack, and Walton Harper.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Widener, Chad Deen, John Heim, Dallas Heim, Kyle Covington, and Tony Boykin.
