MERIDIAN --- A 43-year-old Lauderdale County man was fatally injured in a car-truck collision in Alabama late Friday. HAROLD HARPER of the Russell Community was taken to Choctaw County Hospital in Butler, Alabama, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The mishap occurred near Lisman, Alabama when a car driven by Harper reportedly collided with a log truck. Harper, who was employed by the American Can Company of Butler, was returning home after work, when the accident occurred. He had retired from the Air Force about five years ago with 20 years of service and returned to Russell, where he had resided since that time.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. "Dolly" Harper; two sons, Donald and Ronald Harper, both of Russell; one daughter, Hilda Harper of Russell; his mother and a number of brothers and sisters. The body is at Webb Funeral Home. ~~~ CLARION-LEDGER, Jackson, MS, Aug. 8, 1970, page 4
