D. Martelle Rhoton, 82, passed away at 3:45 AM, on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on Friday, June 14, 1929, in Blackford County, IN. Martelle had retired in 2007 from Indiana Box Corporation in Montpelier after 39 years of service. She was a 1948 graduate of Montpelier High School, had attended Pleasantdale United Methodist Church and taken L.P.N. classes. She had been a lifetime Montpelier resident.
Survivors include Sons-Estel R. (wife, Carolyn) Rhoton of Lebanon, Steve R. (wife, Lee) Rhoton of Noblesville, Jay (wife, Lisa) Rhoton of Poneto, Dee T. (wife, Jo) Rhoton of Knob Noster, Mo., Sisters-Imogene (Dwight) Schmidt of Hartford City, Donna Lou (husband, Don) Brown of Montpelier, Christine (husband, Dean) Rinker of Hartford City, Joyce (husband, Louie) Willmann of Hartford City, Brother-Bud (wife, Rosemary) Helm of Hartford City, 11-Grandchildren and 8-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sherman Jerry and Mabel (Swindler) Helm, Son-Joe Randall Rhoton, Daughter-Cris Arlene Rhoton, Brothers-Sherman and Dale Helm and her former husband-Carl N. Rhoton.
Arrangements are being handled by Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 West Windsor Street, Montpelier, Ind., where family and friends may gather to share and remember from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, March 9, 2012.
A service to celebrate her life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 10, 2012 with the Rev. Chris Nelson officiating. Interment will be at Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier, Ind.
