Imogene Schmidt, 92, of Greenwood, IN, formerly of Blackford County, Jackson Twp. passed away at 7:42 AM on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on Friday, March 16, 1928, in Blackford County, IN. She married J. Dwight Schmidt on Saturday, July 8, 1950 in Muncie, IN. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2016. Imogene was a graduate of Montpelier High School. She was a member of the Hartford City Zion Lutheran Church, 4H Home Ext. Club, and the Blackford County Election Board. Imogene was known as the pumpkin & noodle lady. She enjoyed baking, gardening, crafts, upholstery, and mowing her yard.

She will be sadly missed by her Daughter - Janice (Steve) Besing, Salem, OR, Son - Norman (Barbara) Schmidt, Carmel, IN, Daughter - Connie (Mitch) Keener, Indianapolis, IN, Son - Leon Schmidt, Hartford City, IN, Son - Joe (Michelle) Schmidt, Greenwood, IN, 8 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, Brother - Bud Helm, Hartford City, IN, Sisters - Donna Lou (Donald) Brown, Montpelier, IN, Christina (Dean) Rinker, Hartford City, IN, and Joyce (Lewis) Willman, Hartford City, IN.

She was preceded in death by her Parents- Sherman J. & Mable (Swindler) Helm, Husband - J. Dwight Schmidt, Sister - Martelle Rhoton, and Brothers - Dale L. Helm & Sherman Helm Jr.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W Windsor St Montpelier on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

A service to celebrate Imogene’s life will follow at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2021. Interment will be in the Gardens of Memory in Muncie.
