My father was born in Kent County, England. He came to America at the age of seven with three brothers and two sisters. He lived with one sister in Canada until he was old enough to go out on his own. He got work on a farm near Aledo, Illinois. The owner of the farm became mygrandparents as he married their daughter. One brother stayed in England and one went to Australia. Two brothers made Illinois their home, one became a minister and had three daughters and a son. (From a letter from Aura Cook).
