Elizabeth was the youngest child of Jeddiah and Barbara Miller Ashcraft. She was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant Township, Atchison County, Kansas. She married R. W. Benton 15 Jul 1884 in Brown County, Kansas

The following death notice was provided by Debra Fuhrman.
It appeared in the 30 May 1886 issue of the Atchison Daily Champion.
"Mrs. Elizabeth Benton, aged 24, died of consumption at the residence of A. J. Ashcraft on Independence Creek, yeasterday forenoon. Her funeral will occur at noon today. The interment will be in 'Ashcraft's graveyard' near Mt. Pleasant. The deceased had been married less than two years. She leaves no children."
