Maxine Lambert Petty, wife of the late Van A.Petty, Jr. (actually III), died peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the age of 96. Maxine was born in Shawnee, OK., on August, 10, 1915, to Luther and Peggy Howell Lambert. She was graduated from Jefferson High School where she was a drum majorette. She was an alumnus of the University of Texas in Austin. She was married to Van A. Petty for 54 wonderful years and was blessed with and survived by her three children, Patricia Estelle Petty Zinsmeyer of Bourne, Maxine Mary Kenney and her husband, John, of Bourne, and Christine Sharon Petty Pa of Kauai, Hawaii. Maxine was a life time member of the University of Texas, the Petroleum Club, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Garden Club of Olmos Park, Women's Club, Junior League, Conservation Society, one of the founding members of the Petroleum Auxiliary Club and a member of the Oakhills Country Club, as well as an avid golfer and a member of the Church of Reconciliation. She and Van enjoyed their many trips abroad as well as their many trips to Port Aransas and Corpus Christi with family and friends. She and Van had a house up in the hill country which they enjoyed immensely. She and Van especially enjoyed their Saturday nights entertaining friends, playing their jazz records, and dancing the night away. (Obituary thanks to Misson Burial Park, San Antonio.)
