Funeral services were held Saturday in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home for Bessie Mae Norman, who died Wednesday (Dec. 13, 1989) in the Lincoln Skilled Care Center of Fayetteville. She was 86. The Rev. Gifford Williams officiated. Burial followed in Stewart Cemetery. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Martha Jane Jones Brooks, a housewife and a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Chester Whitfield of Fayetteville and Lewis Whitfield of Harvey, Ill.; a brother, Bill Brooks of Fayetteville; a sister, Lorene Tucker of Elora; a stepdaughter, Margie Jean of Elora; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grand-children.
