Oldest Hampton Citizen, Age 86 is Death Victim
Mrs. Teresa Dimmers Dies after Illness; Rites Held monday

Hampton's oldest citizen, Mrs. Teresa Dimmers, passed away at the home of her son Peter Arnold, Friday night about 10:10 o'clock. She had been ill only a few days but the infirmities of her advanced age aggravated the heart ailment from which she had been a patient sufferer many years and she quietly slept into eternity with her ten children about her bedside.
Mrs. Dimmers, nee Teresa Schmitz was born in Wisconsin, September 5, 1852 and there grew to womanhood. Her marriage to John Dimmers was solemnized in Heidelberg, Minn., in 1872. The young couple lived at various times in Cologne, Jordan and New Market. Twenty years ago they retired from active farming and came with their son Arnold to live in Hampton. Mr. Dimmers passed away in 1921. Despite her advanced age, the venerable lady did all her own housework, save the heavier jobs, which her daughter, Mrs. Anna Bielen, who lived next door did her for her. She enjoyed the visits of her children and friends and was deeply interested in everything which concerned her home community.
Mr. and Mrs. Dimmers had a family of eleven children, two sons and nine daughters. One of the latter passed away six years ago. Those surviving are, Peter Arnold, with whom she made her home, P. John, Mrs. Christine Kloeckner, Mrs. John Hinigen, Mrs. Margaret Peters, Mrs. Al Kunz, and Mrs. Ed. Welsh of St. Paul, Mrs. Anna Bielen of Hampton, Mrs. H. J. Kloeckner, Emerald, Wis., and Mrs. Kate Murphy of Prior Lake. There are 49 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
The funeral held Monday morning at nine o'clock from St. Mathias church was largely attended. Rev. Father Minnea chanted the Requiem Mass. Five grandsons, John Bielen, Eugene, James and Raymond Murphy, Alois Kloeckner and Harold Kunz acted as pallbearers while six granddaughters, Angela Kloeckner, Irene and Dorothy welsh, Teresa Bielen and Edna Kunz formed an Honorary escort.
Interment was made in St. Mathias cemetery by the side of her late husband.
