MABEL DARCY

Mrs. Mabel V. (Marcum) Darcy, 79, died Tuesday evening at Indian Hills Nursing Home after a long illness. She had lived in Chillicothe since 1969, following retirement from the General Motors Corporation in Illinois.
Born March 23, 1905 in Chillicothe, she was the daughter of William C. and Elizabeth L. (Mills) Marcum, and niece of the late Grover C. Marcum. Mrs. Darcy attended public school in Creighton, Knox County, Nebraska, where her father farmed. April 25, 1922 she married Robert Michael Darcy of that city. They were married in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. Her family had moved to Plattsmouth, Nebraska a year earlier. Prior to her retirement years in Chillicothe, except for two years in Florida, she lived virtually her entire adult life in the Chicago area. For 23 years she was in data processing at G.M.'s Electro-Motive Division in LaGrange, Illinois.
Mrs. Darcy was an active member of the Domestic Science Club and the Chillicothe Bridge Clubs. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of the Lindley Funeral Home with Rev. George Moore officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn cemetery in Stickney, Ill. Family visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Friday at the funeral home. The body lie in State at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. Survivors include two sons; Bill, Denver, Colorado, and Robert L., Westerville, Ohio; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and brother, Eads Marcum,
West Des Moines, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son Robert Michael Jr. who died March 9, 1925 at 4 months and 10 days old, and elder brother, Ivan.
