WELL KNOWN VAN ZANDT COUNTY FARMER DIES

George W. Stringer, 56, farmer and
former road commissioner of Van Zandt county, died Thursday night at his home at
Ben Wheeler after an illness of the past year.

Mr. Stringer was born in Van
Zandt county and was well known in Athens.

Surviving are his wife; four
daughters, Mrs. Marion Williamson of Athens, Mrs. Ava Nell Neill of Ben Wheeler,
Mrs. Faires Emerson of Canton and Mrs. Christine Norris of Tyler; two sons,
Lenon Stringer of Ben Wheeler and G.W. Stringer of Tyler, and ten
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 11 O'clock with
burial in the Holly Springs cemetery in Van Zandt county. Complete funeral
arrangements were not announced in Athens.
