HUMBOLDT, KS - Elsie Mildred Dorris, 100, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Arrowood Lane, Humboldt, Kansas.
She was born August 21, 1901, near Savonburg, the daughter of Perry Alfred and Hannah Olive (Wittsell) Berglund.
On May 11, 1918, she married Homer Albert Cation at Erie. He died Sept. 26, 1964.
She married Harry Dorris on Feb. 19, 1967, in Humboldt. He died Sept. 12, 1977.
She was a member of the Humboldt Christian Church, the P.E.P. Sunday School Class, the Plaza Senior Center and the Helping Hands Quilting Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Verona Laver, of Humboldt, KS; a son, Donald Cation, of LaHarpe, KS; two step-daughters, Alyce Swinger, of Garfield, AR, and Jaunita Carlisle, of Wheatland, MO; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 33 step-great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son; two step-sons; one step-daughter; four brothers; three sisters; and one step-grandchild.
Services were held today at the First Christian Church of Humboldt, led by Pastor Doug Dorris and the Rev. Kelly Zillner. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, KS.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church, Humboldt, or to Horizon Hospice, and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Johnson Kunkel Mortuary, Humboldt, KS, was in charge of arrangements.
