Verona Laver, 86, Humboldt, Kansas, died Sunday, September 23, 2007, at the Arrowood Lane Care Home in Humboldt.

She was born Aug. 16, 1921, in rural Savonburg, Kansas, to Homer and Elsie (Berglund) Cation.

She lived her entire life in Allen County. She attended Odense, Humboldt and LaHarpe schools, graduating from LaHarpe High School in 1940.

She married Clyde Laver on July 17, 1940, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2000.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Humboldt and the Helping Hand Quilting Club of Elsmore.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judy Laver, Iola, KS; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Dewayne Ard and Brenda and Duane McFarland, Thayer, KS; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Norma Cation, Coffeyville, KS; two stepsisters, Alyce Swinger, Garfield, AR, and Juanita Carlisle, Hermitage, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, a stepsister and two stepbrothers.

Graveside services will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas.
