FRED BUCHANAN, FORMER COUNTY RESIDENT, DIES

Services are being planned for Fred A. Buchanan, 95, a former resident of Marshall County who died Saturday in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born Aug. 20, 1866, in Belvidere, Ill., he was the son of Jacob and Mary Buchanan.

HE WAS MARRIED to Edith Speicher Dec. 25, 1892, at Liscomb and they lived in that area and at Green Mountain and Marshalltown. Since the death of Mrs. Buchanan in 1937 he has made his home with his children. He was the last of a family of nine.

SURVIVING are five children, Ray Buchanan of Hampton, Mrs. Jean Clark of Cincinnati, Mrs. Laura Tucker of Carbondale, Ill.; Mrs. Lola Baker of Kahoka, Mo., and Mrs. Clifford Davis in Florida. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Buchanan was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ where services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Thomas F. Ross in charge. Burial will be in the Liscomb Cemetery with the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home in charge.
