Mrs Lillie Altwies, 61, widow of H.C. Altwies, died this morning at her home on route 3, town of Farmington. She was a life long resident of Jefferson County and was born 17 August 1896. Her parents were the late Mr and Mrs John Gruennert.
Her marriage to Mr Altwies took place 23 June 1913 (error, married 1914). He died in April of 1957.
Mrs Altwies was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Helenville.
Surviving are two daughters Mrs Theodore Siewert, Sussex and Mrs Willard Degner, Watertown; three sons, Warren M. route 3; Clifford N. Watertown; and Wesley B., route 3; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers, Erving Gruennert, Janesville, and Carl Gruennert, Fort Atkinson; two sisters, Mrs John Linde and Mrs Christ Koch, both of Fort Atkinson.
The funeral will be held Sunday at St. Peter's Church, Helenville. The Rev Gerhard Fischer will officiate and interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Helenville.
